!!!!!!!!!!! Yesssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome!!! I wish I could break down my many reasons for liking it so much, but that would be immensely difficult for the time being, and so I will give you a humble "awesome" once more
damn straight it has a communist feel,.. general strike is when the workforce ceases to work, grinding the economy to a halt, and then takes it over and runs it democratically.. only difference from what you might be used to, is no communist 'state',.. and instead stateless libertarian socialism; anarchism! de-centralized, bottom up.
I suppose that could work providing we still made anything here. Like yesterday I was trying to find a pair of pants made in america and I couldn't even find anything made on this continent.
Your main problem would be the 'average' american. Society teaches us that each american owns their own little piece of america and their own set of material goods. It would be difficult to overcome this -- greed -- americanism.
"here" you say,... and then you go on to make the point for me... first off i didn't mean to imply any "here" ..(that is the 'general' part of 'general strike'
you make a great point that america makes less and less here, depending on china for raw goods and a handful of places for energy needs and other resources. a general strike in china, or in the middle east, either for instance would begin to create real havoc in the US.
because ultimately i agree about so many americans,.. it is not their fault though, they are the most propagandized population in the world,.. at least three solid generations of daily, constant propaganda.
but that is really only relevant for intellectual conversions,.. i agree that is doubtful,.. but material conversions? the day they pull up to the gas station and there is no gas?.. drive to the next one and no gas,.. and so on... these kinds of inevitable material shortages will begin to spark some thinking, maybe some listening.
i have found that once people take just a few minutes to reconsider the propaganda, to doubt and dissemble the american mythology, they find whole new avenues of thought open up to them.
